Kautaq Construction Services, LLC, is a full-service general contracting/construction management firm focused on federal government and Native American contracting opportunities. Kautaq is an SBA 8(a) Program Participant and is HUBZone Certified. Kautaq maintains an office at the UIC Construction Services Anchorage, Alaska campus and has an SBA 8(a) regional office in Tempe, Arizona. Kautaq opened its Southwest office in 2013 to more easily connect with its clients in the Southwest.

25-unit New Home Development - Laveen, Arizona

A groundbreaking ceremony was recently held for a new community development of 25 homes in the Gila River Indian Community. The new homes will have many features to reduce energy costs and noise abatement. The project is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and is scheduled for completion at the end of 2014.

Knik Tribal Council Housing Rehabilitation and Modernization - Wasilla, Alaska

This ongoing rehabilitation and modernization project involves various housing projects for the Knik Tribal Council ranging from roof repair/maintenance to ramp access construction as well as total renovations of rental units.

Bureau of Indian Affairs School Roof Replacement - Hotevilla, Arizona

Working with the United States Department of the Interior – Bureau of Indian Affairs, Kautaq completed the roof replacement on two buildings at Hotevilla Bacavi School in 2012.

Office Tenant Improvements - Anchorage, Alaska

Kautaq completed tenant improvements in 2013 for the entire 8th floor of the Calais Office Building in Anchorage, Alaska. Work preformed included painting; demolition, removal, and renovation of select walls and flooring; and refurbishing a conference room.

DOT Sound Insulation Project - Anchorage, Alaska

This residential sound insulation project for the State of Alaska, Department of Transportation, consisted of installation of sound insulation products including doors, windows, ventilation improvements and attic insulation in residential units to reduce noise levels near the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport.

Cannon Air Force Base - Clovis, New Mexico

Kautaq has a Prime/Sub teaming partner, Northcon, Inc., for federal government and military ID/IQ projects and is currently completing several task orders on a SABER Contract at Cannon Air Force Base.

NHA 20-unit Residential Remodel - Whippoorwill, Arizona

Kautaq is currently working on a 20-unit home modernization project on the Navajo reservation. The complete renovation and modernization of the Navajo Housing Authority units is scheduled for completion in July 2014.

This project is a complete strip and remodel of 10 housing units for the Navajo Housing Authority. The renovations consist of new energy and sustainability features as well as new roofs, siding, and complete interior finishes.

Hopi Housing Authority 7-unit Multi-Family Tenant Renovations - Winslow, Arizona

This tenant improvement project was completed on schedule in January 2014. The work involved renovation and modernization of 7 Hopi Housing Authority community housing units and featured on-grid Photovoltaic systems.

First Nations

UIC First provides a full range of construction related services including pre-construction and pre-planning, design-build, construction management, general contracting and long-term facilities management. It has developed a unique program to integrate aboriginal entities on any First Nations reserve related projects. This program includes labor pool training and development to improve the aboriginal labor opportunities, not just for the short-term project, but for the long-term services of projects after construction is completed.
